Here at Canary we have an extensive amount of experience with designing on human terms, identifying the design stakeholders, and designing to satisfy their needs. We are living in a society where products are driven by technology and what the manufacturer can make, instead of considering what we actually need. Canary has experience on Human Centred Design ranging from small products through to large scale industrial facility designs. Canary can perform assessments on a design already completed, or join you in the journey from start to finish.
Our Process
Share your Problem...
Please don’t hesitate to contact us with your problems, they may initially emerge as customer complaints about a product, system or system. The people complaining may be your customers or workforce. We are willing to listen and happy to provide a fresh pair of eyes on the situation. If you want to engage with a wider target population, accommodate your employees into their 70’s, then we can help.
Working out a Plan
During the scoping meeting, we will set out a strategy for understanding the nature of your problem, the constraints and a reasonable approach for addressing the issues raised.
Understanding how you do Business...
We will arrange a site visit to observe, measure and interview your employees. We can also arrange independent stakeholder reviews with your customers and designers to discuss the design intent and stakeholder intent.
Modelling and Simulations...
Once the data has been gathered, it is possible to create a 3D virtual space for physical space simulation or to build a virtual computer / control interface for cognitive space simulation. The simulators enable Canary to build up the scenarios observed and to identify solutions to address the shortfalls in the design.
Real World Validation...
Following on from the analysis, the simulations are presented to either the design team and or the design stakeholders to review and comment on. If the design solutions are agreed, then the next phase requires the implementation of either a prototype or a pilot study to validate the design solution in the real world. Canary Designs will help you to fabricate a prototype and can help with the design of the pilot studies.
Implement...
Canary Designs will support your journey from the pilot study to implementing the solution. We can support the familiarisation exercises required by your employees and stakeholders. Hopefully they have been included throughout the development phase but there will always be people who will be new to the product, system or service. We can support their journey by providing the simulators for training and help with providing any written instructions or instructional videos.
