Edge Hill university contracted Canary Designs to review a participant’s day to day tasks, as they have been experiencing upper body musculoskeletal discomfort over a period of 12 years.
Wheelchair Camera Mount
The case involved working with a client which is in a wheelchair and wishes to use his camera equipment to capture aircraft at air shows and events. They have previously attempted to makeshift with a selfie stick that has been modified, however it was deemed to not be very useable as it did not offer them the versatility which they wanted and was difficult to operate.
RNLI E-Class
Canary Designs partnered up with Nottingham Trent University to undertake an ergonomic assessment of the E-Class MKII exclusively operating on the river Thames in London. This is the busiest lifeboat station in the country, the E-Class MKII helps to save lives day in and day out.
RNLI SLEP Project
Canary Designs partnered with Nottingham Trent University to help with the Severn Life Extension Plan (SLEP) Programme. The current design offers an accommodation of approximately 65%, and the aim of the task from the client is to increase that to 95% accommodation of the target population.
RNLI Trent Class Wheelhouse
Canary Designs partnered with Nottingham Trent University to undertake an ergonomic review of the Trent Class wheelhouse. The Trent class boat was introduced in 1984 to replace the Arun and Waveney with an operating range of 80km and a top speed of 25 knots
Sellafield
This project, the starting point was the design team and their knowledge of human factors. Canary designs then formed part of a multi-disciplined design team. The focus for Canary is to establish the role of the human in the overall system design, to establish whether the allocation function is feasible for the humans in the loop to achieve and maintain system safety and integrity.
RNLI Search and Rescue at Sea
Canary Designs has conducted several ergonomic assessments, ranging from speed boats to large rescue boats.
Hebog Environmental
Canary Designs was approached by Hebog Environmental to conduct an Ergonomic Assessment of a Marine Biology Laboratory in the aim to improve the working environment for their employees.

UK Nuclear Decommissioning
Canary Designs have supported Magnox since June 2011 on CAT III Nuclear safety categorised projects at Bradwell A, Dungeness A, and Hinkley Point A.
